A full-time professional support engineer and manager
position responsible for the technical support and teaching laboratories in the
School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. This person will be responsible
for academic/instructional laboratory support and management, training
(technical, safety, etc.), basic office IT support, facilities management, and
support of technical and IT needs for faculty instruction and research
programs. Required qualifications:
Bachelor degree in electrical or computer engineering, two years of related
laboratory experience (for example, teaching/training others, directing
technical employees, problem solving, working on engineering projects, etc.).
working with vendors, writing technical specifications, and determining needs
related to electronic and computer projects, taking engineering projects from
conception to completion, including the engineering design cycle, functional
decomposition, and time/resource management, knowledge and ability to work on
projects and problems appropriate for an electrical or computer engineer,
ability to work and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a
wide range of individuals of diverse backgrounds, ability to properly manage
projects and tasks and set priorities, basic electronic skills, including
fabrication of electronic circuits and assemblies, diagnostics, test and
measurement, familiarity with computers, data networks, and peripheral
interfacing and operation, and the ability to install, diagnose, and repair
typical office IT systems. ability to use basic machine shop tools (mill,
lathe, etc.) safely, ability to instruct others in relevant technical topics.,
and the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand on a ladder, bend under a desk or
equipment and work in tight spaces. Prefer candidate with experience working
with technical professionals including, for example, teaching/training others,
directing technical employees, problem solving, working on engineering
projects, etc, experience working with vendors, writing technical
specifications, and determining needs related to electronic and computer
projects, experience taking engineering projects from conception to completion,
including the engineering design cycle, functional decomposition, and
time/resource management. Previous experience training/teaching or working with
college students is beneficial. Hiring
